The Swan Valley is Western
Australia's oldest wine growing region. Here, you
will experience a colourful blend of history,
people, art, world-class wine, gourmet goodies and
fresh produce. The Swan Valley is the ideal location
to escape, indulge and awaken your senses! And
for lovers of beer, you'll love the Valley too.
Belgian white beer and German red beer are just two
of the over 20 locally-made brews on offer in the
region. Small batches and a swift turnaround
mean our four microbrew outlets are always on the
go, making a changing array of beers in a wide range
of styles. These vary according to the whim of the
brewer, but always include pale and dark ales,
Belgian wheat beer, stout and - a first for Western
Australia - the Feral Brewing Company's porter, made
from seasonal local produce.

About
the Swan Valley Wines
Diversity lies in the heart of
the region's charm, and while international players
like Sandalford and Houghton - home to Australia's
most famous white burgundy - have established large,
impressive tasting facilities, you can still drop
into many smaller wineries for a chat with the
owners and a bottle of something unique to the
valley.
Classic varieties grown here include chenin blanc,
verdelho, shiraz and chardonnay - all of which
thrive in the region's hot, dry climate - along with
less well-known varieties like viognier and
zinfandel. The region is also well-known for its
world-class fortified wines and offers one of
Australia's biggest range of luscious "stickies",
made from lesser known grape varieties including
dolcetto, pedro, ximenes and navera. The Swan
Valley in also one of very few places in the world
where you'll find liquered verdelho - a honeyed,
rich drop worth seeking out.
The wineries selected vary
slightly because of different opening days, however
each tour will visit wineries famous for their
particular style and type of Wine. For example,
visit Pinelli Wines for their Sparkling Moselle,
John Kosovich for their award winning Reds, Whites
and Fortified Wines, Talijancich for their Verdelhos
and Liqueurs, Jadran for their White Port, Edgecombe
Brothers for their wines plus jams, preserves,
fruits and olives, Lancaster Wines for their young
Red and White table wines and Houghton Winery,
world-famous for their White Burgundy (and the 1st
Australian Wine to make the wine list of the House
of Commons in London).
